Owner decision (2026-09-29 and 2026-10-01)

  • 2026-09-29 (H1): "yeah i suppose it's one commit that needs to be removed? we can do it later, no worries." This is one early commit that added private planning notes that must not stay in the public history. The orchestrator knows the SHA. Do not name its content here.
  • 2026-09-30: the owner asked why .git is 773 MB. About 250 MB is old review screenshots under artifacts/ that were committed and deleted later.
  • 2026-10-01: purge and the build VM resize happen "whenever we have the least amount of jobs running (maybe after the next deploy?)".

#548 cleaned branches and worktrees but explicitly did not rewrite history.

Work

  1. In the maintenance window (after the next deploy, new jobs paused): run git filter-repo to remove the old artifacts/ screenshots and the H1 commit's private file from all history.
  2. Force-push dev and main once, with the owner's approval in that session. Branch protection on dev and main (added 2026-10-01) must be lifted for this push and restored right after.
  3. Re-clone or reset every worktree and job branch onto the rewritten history. Update /home/kayg/Developer/calternal, the o2 deploy checkout and the macOS VM checkout.
  4. Add artifacts/ and other review output to .gitignore and a pre-commit guard (if not already there), so screenshots cannot return.

Acceptance

  • .git size before and after is reported (target: well under 550 MB).
  • git log --all -- artifacts/ is empty, and the H1 file is absent from every commit.
  • Branch protection on dev and main is active again.
  • Every running job resumes on the new history with no lost work.
