Observed during #1152 production review on a shared build host.

Several fresh local-server runs did not reach .cal-prose on a Note route. One 20-second check still showed Loading note…. Other checks, including a 60-second check, reached This note could not be opened. The Notes response listener saw no HTTP status >= 400, and Playwright reported no uncaught page errors. The same fixture also opened and passed interaction checks on other runs. Cause is not established; do not treat this as proof of a server error or a cache defect.

Environment: job/blockpill-1152, dev base 41bf97fb28, existing debug server /home/kayg/build/targets/blockpill-1152/debug/calternal-server (built Oct 5), current production web assets via CALTERNAL_E2E_ASSET_OVERRIDE=1, macOS emulation, fresh data directory in worktree target/tmp. Shared-server/CURRENT was absent.

Reproduction command (with a matching prebuilt server binary):

cd apps/web
CALTERNAL_E2E_ASSET_OVERRIDE=1 NOTES_E2E_BLOCK_ACTIONS_ONLY=1 CALTERNAL_SERVER_BIN=<prebuilt-server> TMPDIR=<worktree>/target/tmp bun e2e/notes.mjs --screenshots <worktree>/artifacts/blockpill-1152/actions

The focused test retains status-only Notes API diagnostics. NOTES_E2E_DEBUG_LOAD=1 adds exception types and frame names only; it does not print exception messages or request headers.

Follow-up: check one cold open with a server built from the same dev revision and distinguish a bounded request timeout from an incorrect Note error state. Preserve the calm error state and User-bound cache fencing.
